bozzie boys

i got to catch up with two of my favourite bozzie boys on the weekend.
it was wonderful to see my 'little' brother again.
and so cute to see him as a daddy now too.
he's the same old ben but so natural and relaxed with eamon.
katie is a gorgeous, perfect little mum too.

thanks for the catch-up guys.
and a special thanks to eamon for the big hugs i got.
love you all.
safe travels home again.

last days of autumn

...and perth has finally started to act like it just began.
not talking my garden up in any way, but a very lush green bush turned deciduous overnight.
i just love the yellow leaves.

(note: the thriving green you can see in the background of the second photo is the neighbours' doing)

leena ballerina

a gorgeous little shot i snapped of leena the other day when she dropped me off from a doctors appointment.
(technically mum lisa did the driving but leena did other helpful things like hand me countless magazines while we waited.)

blue website

my darling cousin claire (of blue fame) messaged me that they now have a website for their gorgeous cafe/bar.
designed by the very talented chris at grafik.

so here is a message to all my 'tasmaniac' readers:
check it out.
go there.
it's amazing.
i wish i could!!!

a date with mr. darcy

so i've been a little absent lately for a number of reasons.
(i don't really feel like going into it right now.)
but a quiet and relaxing 'date night' with mr. darcy always makes me feel better.
last night it was raining, i had a cup of hot soup (+ burnt toast), wrapped myself up in my favourite blanket and watched the drama of pride and prejudice unfold (again).
ahhh, maybe i am a hopeless romantic at heart.
especially since the text shown here has to be one of my favourite book/movie lines ever.

photoshop fridge magnets

the product description (obviously written about me):
You're a whiz when your fingertips hit the keyboard.
You've got brushes and lassos at the ready.
But when your feet hit the tile and you're forced to confront cupboards of neglected pans, melon ballers, and scary looking blenders - you realize they're not your tools of choice.
Fear not culinarily-challenged friend! With our Photoshop Fridge Magnets you can now find comfort in the kitchen...
Though they won't allow you to Edit > Undo that over-seasoned soup, or clone stamp a hole in your pie crust they can make you feel a little more at home in your kitchen.

ahhh… sometimes i fear i am a bit of a nerd.
i think these are fantastic*.
i'd buy them for my fridge, but i fear housemate mel might just stare, shake her head and walk out.
i'm not a geek people, i'm really not.

(*i know if anything, elise and nat will get the appeal)

places i'd rather be

ever have those minutes/hours/days that you daydream about being 'anywhere but here'?
i'm having one of those days.

some of my favourite flickr images of where i'd rather be right now.
canoeing down a misty lake
walking at cradle mountain
taking a balloon ride at sunrise (always wanted to do this)
running along a stormy beach
getting lost in an overgrown field
sitting on a deserted jetty

anywhere other than the constant daily grind of work stress, freeway traffic, cooking and bills.
i'm not complaining, i'm just a little out of sorts.
hurry up weekend.

more mini polaroid* pics

a few more snaps:
lisa and I with the giggles.
clayton's "woops I didn't mean to take that" artistic shirt shot.
amanda and emma around for drinks last night
(yes i cropped amanda's face of with the vase. the view finder is too far away from the lens. well that's my excuse)

* ok ok, so technically not 'polaroids' – but then what do you call them?

a great read...

a list of a few of my favourite reads for my dear musketeer sylv (as promised).
who unfortunately has had to 'quit' work and rest for a few months 'til the little one arrives.
so darling, please listen to the doc, relax and enjoy!

1. The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards
"…story of parallel lives, familial secrets, and the redemptive power of love."
my pick for a can't-put-down read!

2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
"…tells with seamless authenticity and exquisite lyricism the true confessions of one of Japan's most celebrated geisha."
the movie doesn't do it justice.
one of those stories that's much better to read than to watch.

3. Gypsy by Lesley Pearse
a story set back in early america during the time of the Klondike gold rush.
i loved it, but then again I love historical novels.

4. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby
this is what I'm reading at the moment.
it's a real laugh.
the few times I've caught the train to work lately i've been reading it and it's hard to suppress the giggles. (got a very weird look from some guy who obviously thought I was a bit nuts.)
supposedly there's a movie, but I haven't seen it.

5. Matilda by Roald Dahl
had to be my favourite book growing up.
sylv, you can read it out loud to the baby (SHE'd enjoy it).

6. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
what can I say – the BEST book ever ;-)
