last week my mini sister was came over for a visit.
we admired the AMAZING exhibition picasso to warhol at the gallery, enjoyed quiet breakfast dates, had a sibling catch up with ben (+ co), went running together, relaxed in the sun, explored the city and laughed until i sides hurt.
can't wait for more adventures soon darling.

one of the perks of working in northbridge is the great food choices at lunch.

i'm letting you in on a big secret here... 

the best "sandwich" i've ever had is from the italian grocer the re store.

full of fresh goodness you choose yourself.

(they always freshly shave my prosciutto for me too!)

mouthwatering goodness for less than 10 bucks.

what my instagram has been up to this past week

ugg boots on a cold(ish) friday night after a long week. 

it's about the simple things sometimes.

my favourite little luxury with the bliss that is aesop resurrection aromatic handwash. 

totally indulgent and one of my favourite aromas ever.

spending a wonderful public holiday with ben, katie and eamon visiting me.

my gorgeous brother bought us some delicious macarons from la galette.

splurging on new t2 teas. 

lemongrass and ginger is a perfect light and refreshing drink and an old favourite.

new favourite with the nutty flavour of a slightly fermented oolong.

(resisted buying this gorgeous teapot)

and yesterday i had the most amazing breakfast with a bunch of girls at harvest.

soufflé cakes = AMAZING!

the pièce de résistance was the goats curd sorbet. 

(i adore anything goats cheese flavoured)

really great memories

a little over a year ago, two of my gorgeous friends got married.

the smilebooth at their reception has produced some serious, fall-of-you-chair-laughing moments.

saturday night

...enjoying a beautiful winter sunset with my little brother and darling mother.

the best view

it's just a walkway to a beach you might say.

but first thing in the morning this has been a favourite sight.

leaving the car park and walking a little over the rise and this is what i see on my way to a morning ocean swim at leighton beach.

(more float and relax than swim i must admit).

with summer being so hot over here, the beach in the morning is just perfect.

ok, so i haven't gone everyday, but eager to make it more of a habit.

holidays and food

well that is how i managed to sporadically document my week (and a bit) of holidays:

frozen yoghurt at red spoon in freo.

elise deciding what's for breakfast one hot morning at moore & moore.

a stop at the chocolate factory on a trip with bro and sis in the swan valley.

heidi savouring her short mac after an early morning swim and walk at cottesloe.

delicious little christmas cake from my darling mummy.

this week shall consist of less eating and more exercise.

that's the plan anyway.

oh, and happy new year!

weekend with mum

i had a fantastic weekend catching up with my darling mum.

we saw mama mia (along with my gorgeous aunty tania), had a lazy breakfast, drank lots of GREAT coffee and did a whole lot of relaxing.

i have to admit i also did a good lot of sleeping on sunday while mum caught some winter sunshine in the backyard.

thanks mum.

lest we forget

being my first ANZAC day in perth, i went to the dawn service at kings park.

an amazing experience standing with a silent crowd of 40,000 listening to the last post being played and watching the sunrise over the city.

it gave me goosebumps (and that wasn't even from the cold).

you would have loved it elise!

weekend friend

it's very exciting to have my beautiful cousin lori move over (or back) to perth!

we went out for dinner to catch up (with mike and bailey as well).

their other little boy cooper stayed home and played up for his oma while we had an amazing dinner (at next door) of carpaccio fillet beef and slow cooked pork belly (+ too much more).

a wonderful catch up and a great night.

hopefully the first of many.

time flies

it's official – i've been 'gone' for a year!

this time last year i was driving across the great (and rather dry and flat) expanse of australia, moving my life from launceston tasmania to perth western australia.

makes me feel a little homesick.

but on the plus side, check out the weather forecast for the next 7 days.

hmmm... i think perth is winning that one.

cake for lunch

yes it's true.

yesterday i ate cake for lunch.

i can't say i regret it apart from having a pretty bad sugar high (then low) afterwards.

that of course had to be balanced by a savoury spinach and ricotta pastry.

so did i eat cake for lunch? i'm going with yes.

will i do it again? probably not in a hurry.

but hey try it sometime.

We went to a GORGEOUS little cafe in leederville, the walls lined with music posters and the ceiling full of paper lamps. v cute!
