my weekend

on the weekend my best friend (musketeer number 1) got married!
i was so thrilled to be part of such a special and intimate occasion.
a double blessing to spend a few days at "home" with my friends and family.

a little festivity with friends

last night i threw a dinner party for my musketeers (+ their boys).
we had an absolutely amazing night sitting out in the still summery night at des and sylvia’s.
hours of good food, great wine, fantastic conversation and so much laughter.
i am truly blessed to have such beautiful friends.

hey my musketeers, we have chocolate named after us!

i had chocolate cravings on friday.
and my local video store now has american confectionery.
and it's piled up on a massive table as you're waiting in line.
and i swear it was whispering "eat me, eat me".
this one i couldn't resist – just for names sake.

actually pretty tasty. basically a king-size(+) milky bar. yum yum.

the strongest, most amazing girl you could ever meet.
wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
missing you so much heidi!

a great read...

a list of a few of my favourite reads for my dear musketeer sylv (as promised).
who unfortunately has had to 'quit' work and rest for a few months 'til the little one arrives.
so darling, please listen to the doc, relax and enjoy!

1. The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards
"…story of parallel lives, familial secrets, and the redemptive power of love."
my pick for a can't-put-down read!

2. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
"…tells with seamless authenticity and exquisite lyricism the true confessions of one of Japan's most celebrated geisha."
the movie doesn't do it justice.
one of those stories that's much better to read than to watch.

3. Gypsy by Lesley Pearse
a story set back in early america during the time of the Klondike gold rush.
i loved it, but then again I love historical novels.

4. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby
this is what I'm reading at the moment.
it's a real laugh.
the few times I've caught the train to work lately i've been reading it and it's hard to suppress the giggles. (got a very weird look from some guy who obviously thought I was a bit nuts.)
supposedly there's a movie, but I haven't seen it.

5. Matilda by Roald Dahl
had to be my favourite book growing up.
sylv, you can read it out loud to the baby (SHE'd enjoy it).

6. Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss
what can I say – the BEST book ever ;-)

wedding bells and wedding belles

josh and cheri's wedding really was an occasion to remember!!!
apart from one of the best receptions i have even been to
(trust me – I've been to a fair few weddings in my time),
there was my 2 BEST friends to share it with – go the musketeers.
did we have fun? can't you tell?

and how beautiful did cheri look?
i know it's cliche but so true.

(thanks lisa and heidi for the photos i stole from you fb pages.
one of those days where i was having too much fun and forgot to get my camera out.)

it's not fair how some people are so beautiful even while being totally silly

i rest my case.
so wonderful to be spending time with my beautiful (pregnant) best friend again.
and only 2 more sleeps til i get m1 (musketeer one - heidi) here too.
feeling very very very very very excited.

(photo of sylv deciding the bed canopy i bought her for the baby is better suited as some weird veil)

noah's ark baby room

as possibly previously gushed about, my best friend sylvia is expecting.
so exciting!!!
note: the baby will be adorable – des and sylv both hail from that beautiful, olive skin, perfect features group of people.
anyway she told me about the wall paper border they were getting for the baby's room and then proceeded to worry about what would match with it.

so...
dear pregnant musketeer:
in true i-love-to-design-the-world style i decided to put together a little 'mood board' for a noah's ark themed baby's room.
1. the wall paper border
2. himmel bed canopy (buying this for you, unless you don't like)
4. ikea elephant
(this is yours sweety, i bought it at the ball the other night for you xxx)
note: i think it's a girl – hence the wall colours

what do you think?

dear musketeer, i'm here

when everything around you fails
just hold out your hand,
and i’ll come running,
thats what a friend is for.

i'm here.
reaching out from way away.
giving you my love.
thinking of you.
missing you both my girlies.

happy new year

i'm having the most fantastic, relaxing, fun holiday in tasmania.
sitting on my sisters couch with a laptop on my (getting tanned) legs listening to chris and kris 'gasbag' in the kitchen and the kiddies playing outside.
have a tonne of photos and thoughts i will share with you all very soon.
i had the BEST day yesterday - just the 3 musketeers again!
walking through the george, eating ice creams, dinner at heidi's, being silly sliding down the hallway on explorer socks, drinking custard, sitting in front of the outdoor fire sipping wine.
note: non alcoholic wine for sylvia who is expecting her first baby in july!
we also had a bit of a new years resolution chat.
though i've never been one to give myself resolutions, it was great to all talk about what we want to do for our dear ones, for ourselves and our attitudes to life.
thank you for a WONDERFUL time my girlies.

happy new year to you all xxx

dear (birthday) musketeer

tomorrow is one of my musketeers birthday!
happy birthday to my darling best friend.
i wish i could be there, but only 49 more sleeps until i see you again.

ten (of the many) reasons I love sylvia:

1 she has always loved me unconditionally.

2 she sticks up for her friends.

3 she has exuberance the energiser bunny would have a hard time matching.

4 she sings at the top of her lungs, often with wrong (made-up) words.

5 she has an amazing ability to laugh at herself.

6 she is kind and patient with EVERYONE.

7 when i see her she hugs me so hard it hurts.

8 she cries at the drop of a hat, even over tv programs like the biggest loser.

9 she makes the best chicken wraps.

10 she is the most beautiful person in the world.

dear musketeer

thanks you fellow musketeers.
ah the JOY of being able to sit down with my two best friends and have a good ol' chinwag.
you are my lifeline.

this is us at heidi's new house in the most beautiful little spot in glengarry tasmania.
still building so not moved in yet, but we brought up a heater some chicken, coleslaw and fresh buns to mung on – and strawberries and yoghurt for dessert.
oh and a nice drop of wine.
