i have been on a bit of a health kick the last few months.
so I have been spending a lot more time in the kitchen – which has to be the only downfall.
i am really not a lover of that room, but I'm trying.
it really has been paying off though – i feel so healthy, have less migraines and a lot more energy.
my go-to inspiration lately has been the adorable blog the first mess.
you HAVE to check it out.
plus some more random kitchen-y link love:
what a great idea for kiddies: scented playdough
what really is the best substitute for sugar?
a beautiful watercolour kitchen art print.

i adore this... make your own gatsby monogram.
the great gatsby is not baz' finest movie in my opinion – but the styling, design and lavish parties (oh those dreamy parties!) makes it worth the watch.
yes we have hit winter, but i still love spending time outside.
especially with the mild winter weather we have in perth.
plus my new apartment has a north facing balcony that catches the sun all day, which is perfect for relaxing with a book or enjoying the view.
here's my inspiration to jazz it up a little...
benches // balcony // caravan // verandah

i was very spoilt early in the new year with lots of interstate visitors.
it was especially great having my big sister come and stay with me.
nothing like an early morning summer swim at leighton beach before breakfast.
a very sweet new teapot from my darling mum.
added to my collection of pots… which is still growing.
the beautiful tess drew me this beautiful horse as a birthday gift.
the girl has some serious talent!
(check out her elephant drawing here).
browsing at the free markets I came across my dream sofa.
it was not for sale.
even if it was i'm sure that (a) it would be out of my budget and (b) my apartment couldn't fit another couch anyway.
having fun at home creating a little frame for my front door peephole.
i remember growing up, watching friends and thinking the gold frame on monica and rachel's door was fantastic.
so i made my own.
we have been having some seriously stunning sunsets lately.
God has an amazing colour palette!
i adore the little red velvet cake sarah-jane made me for my birthday.
(this was her inspiration – i love having friends who read my blog).
did i eat half of it in one sitting?
i have some great friends…
i got another awesome present, from another awesome friend, to watch birds of tokyo when they came to perth a few weeks ago.
but really no present in the world can equal love…
like the kind you get from beautiful little nephews.
little lewis, you have stolen my heart.
my siblings have to stop having children i think, because sometimes i feel there is no way i can possibly keep loving more of these precious little bundles.
but i do.
and i will.
i am thankful.
i am blessed.

so a few weeks ago, i (finally) jumped out of an perfectly good airplane cruising at 14,000 feet.
(the story behind this, here and here.)
hands down the craziest, best, most terrifying, exhilarating, amazing, fantastic, adrenaline rush i have ever experienced in my life.
the only way i can describe it is that you will never feel more alive than when your feet touch terra firma again.
thank you to my amazing friends for the experience of a lifetime... and to leah who was brave and crazy enough to do it with me.

it seems so long ago now, but i had a great summer break in my home state.
eating the most delicious quail at the taste festival in hobart.
amazing day, amazing people, amazing food.
oh and amazing wine.
i may be slightly biased but tasmania really does have the best produce.
dinner party photo with my darling, darling best friends.
lots of laughter and love.
our dinner parties are always memorable.
sunset on new years day.
spent in my favourite place – coles bay.
a wonderful way to start the new year.
dinner with brother no.2.
i just love this photo!
a definite highlight was a (slightly more than balmy) 40 degrees day spent at honeymoon bay snorkelling with brother no.3.
a crystal clear, cool sea to swim in and shade to read in, plus a spectacular view.
holidays, family, friends – i miss you.

so here are a few favourite shots stolen from siblings' instagram:
the AMAZING bouquet my talented sister christine created for SJ's wedding.
it has to be about the most stunning flower arrangement ever.
i am a bit proud of how creative my sisters are.
honeymoon bay (coles bay) sunset by elise.
it captures exactly how it felt.
it was the most stunning, warm and calm evening.
i am and always will be in love with the freycinet peninsula.
playing dress ups with my nieces and nephew on a visit to my sister's place in tasmania.
who doesn't love an excuse to dress up?
i am still a child at heart.

and hello blog friends.
i know i've been missing a bit lately.
december was a crazy month and now i've been enjoying some serious r&r.
let's raise a glass to a new year (and a great summer).
wishing you all a wonderful 2013.
